Is AI bg remove really free?
Yes. There are no credits, subscriptions, signup walls or watermarks. Removing backgrounds is free and unlimited, forever.
Do you store or upload my images?
No. The AI runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly and your device's GPU. Your image never leaves your device, so there is nothing to store or leak.
Why does the first removal take longer?
The first time you use it, the browser downloads the AI model (about 80 MB for the background remover and 28 MB for the object remover). After that it is cached, so later edits are much faster.
Can I remove objects, watermarks or people?
Yes. Use the Brush Remover to paint over anything you want gone — objects, watermarks, text, people — then press Remove Object. AI fills the area naturally.
Can I add a background to my transparent PNG?
Yes. After removing the background you can add a solid color, a gradient, or upload your own image as the new background. Transparent PNG export is also available.
What image formats are supported?
PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF and GIF uploads are supported. The final result downloads as a high-quality PNG with transparency.
How is my privacy protected?
Because processing is 100% on-device, your photos never touch our servers. There is no account, no analytics on your image content, and nothing to delete. See our privacy page for details.
Which browsers are supported?
Chrome, Edge and Firefox on desktop work best. Safari 17+ is supported for background removal; object removal benefits from a device with WebGPU support.
